Booking add-ons (upsell)
What it is
The Add-ons (upsell) screen in the website administration. It is where you create the extra services a guest adds during the booking itself - breakfast, parking, entry to the wellness area.
It is part of the Premium plan.
Why you need it
A guest who is already booking is the most willing to buy something extra. With one click they add breakfast and you get revenue you would otherwise have missed.
Where the guest sees them
In the second step of the booking, as cards with a photo, a description and a price.
How to add an add-on
- In the left menu open Add-ons (upsell).
- Click Add an add-on.
- Fill in the Name and the Description.
- Enter the Price.
- Choose the Billing unit - this decides the final amount:
| Billing unit | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Per stay | One-off |
| Per night | × the number of nights |
| Per person | × the number of guests |
| Per person per night | × the number of guests × the number of nights |
- Optionally fill in the Max quantity. An empty field means the default cap.
- Upload the Add-on photo. It is converted to WebP automatically.
- Turn on the Active add-on toggle.
- Click Save add-on.
As you fill it in you see an Example - what the add-on comes to for a sample number of guests and nights. Check it before you save.
The order of add-ons
The Move up and Move down buttons determine the order they are offered to guests in. Put what you most want to sell at the top.
Turning on and off
The toggle switches an add-on on or off. A disabled add-on is not shown to guests, but it stays saved with you together with its sales history. This is handy for seasonal items.
Above the list you see a summary of how many add-ons are active out of the total, and an All / Active / Disabled filter.
How much of an add-on has sold
Next to each add-on there is a Sold X× figure. It tells you what works and what does not.
Deleting an add-on
Deleting removes the add-on from the offer, but add-ons already ordered in existing reservations remain. A guest who paid for breakfast does not lose it.
Common problems
The item has a padlock. Add-ons are part of the Premium plan.
The add-on is not offered to guests. Check that the Active add-on toggle is on.
The guest was charged more than I expected. Check the Billing unit. The difference between "Per stay" and "Per person per night" is large for a family staying a week.
I uploaded a photo and cannot see it. Add-on photos count towards your photo storage. If it is full, the upload fails.
I deleted an add-on and the guest still has it on their reservation. That is how it should be. Add-ons already ordered remain.
